2. Be able to take criticisms and comments from others.
When you enlist your mother, your sister or your best friend to help plan the wedding, this means that they will make suggestions. Don’t dismiss their thoughts thinking only you know what’s best; at least take their comments into consideration before you decide whether it works for you or not.

3. Let your wedding party be themselves.
You may have a bridesmaid who is too short and you want her to wear six-inch heels or a groomsman who has a beard that you may find unsightly. Don’t nitpick every tattoo, piercing or dye job, and let everyone look like themselves rather than carbon copies of each other.

4. Anticipate that things won’t go as planned.
Everyone wants that perfect wedding, but keep in mind that nothing is always so. If you anticipate that some things may go wrong—a late delivery or a flower girl that’s fallen sick—they won’t seem as dire when they do.

5. Embrace impulsiveness.
In the same vein, the unexpected may turn into a great memory; it’s all about how you react. If, for example, the photographer doesn’t show, don’t think your wedding is ruined: get someone to purchase a bunch of disposable cameras and have your guests and wedding party take pictures of your big day. They may not be professional pictures, but you may find a few gems from various perspectives.

6. Let your hubby-to-be in.
This could either mean giving him some responsibilities in the wedding planning process or merely having him to vent to if something goes wrong. You can draw some strength from him and this will do wonders for you mood, allowing you to move forward with the planning with reduced stress.
